Department of Social Work

Dr. Benjamin F. Payton, President of Tuskegee University, sadly announced today the loss of Kimberly Horton Nixon, a member of the faculty in the Department of Social Work, passed on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, in Tuscaloosa.

On education study leave from the University, she was enrolled at The University of Alabama, where she was pursuing a doctorate in social work. She is a 1988 social work graduate of Tuskegee University and received the master’s degree in social work from the University of Alabama in 2002. She joined the faculty at Tuskegee in 2002. While at Tuskegee, she was quite involved in assisting her students and working to ensure that they were able to move forward with their goals and objectives. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

She is survived by her mother, Margaret Nixon, who lives in Mobile.
