Welcome to Ms. McArthur's Social Work Classes!
145 , 235 , 236 , 355 , 366 & 445
The courses that I teach can be intellectually stimulating, are directly relevant to the many fields of social work practice, and enjoyable as an educational experience.
The course format will combine presentations, quizzes, essays , classroom discussions, community service work and lecture, but I will expect you to ask questions and engage in discussions about the material we will cover.
Students should understand that grades are used as a measure of the knowledge and skill level a student is able and/or chooses to demonstrate during a class. Getting grades is not the sole purpose of a course, learning is! Learning requires the learner to stretch, grow and change behavior in some manner. Thus, learning will involve some stress and exertion of energy!

As a student enrolled in the class you are expected to read any lectures, Powerpoint presentations, etc on the web and to participate in all activities assigned.
It is the students responsibility to check your email periodically for updates. Videos and guest speakers are avenues for addressing some key concepts in the course and information presented in these ways will be included in exams.
Deadlines will not be modified due to a students inability to access the internet. As a college level student it is expected that you utilize your problem solving skills to accomplish your educational tasks, goals and objectives.
College level courses are designed for you to think outside of the box , get out of your comfort zone, learn new skills and by any means necessary expand your knowledge base!
