The Department of Social Work operates a Local Area Network (an Intranet) for faculty, staff, and students. The SOWK-LAN is used of both instructional and administrative tasks. Instructional documents and document templates are retrieved from the Student Server. Students submit papers, field reports, and other documents to their course drop folders, where faculty have access to them. The Student Server automatic logs in all documents for date and time. Daily reports are generated by the System Administrator and student assistants. The network consists of several file servers; 20 workstations in a Computer Lab/Classroom; faculty/staff workstations; and scanners and color printers in various physical and network locations for faculty, staff, and student use.
