The Department of Social Work offers a major that leads to the Bachelor of Arts in Social Work. The Department is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education at the undergraduate level. It is the primary objective of the Department of Social Work to prepare its students for beginning level social work practice; preparation for graduate education follows from and is secondary to preparation for employment. A person with a degree from an accredited institution is eligible to take the examination for licensure as a baccalaureate-level social worker (LBSW) and apply for advanced standing in social work graduate programs.
